I can't stop watching this video. It cracks me up. His mouth moves out of synch with his sounds. It's like a kung fu movie!

Max Speaks

We have a video of Mel doing the exact same babbling at about the same age. They look identical.

Work in Progress

Here Mel adds a mouth. "Now Joe is talking." Many more additions are being made even as I type... limbs, shoes, apple tree, net to catch apples (none shown here). She was not drawing this clearly a few days ago. Blink and you miss another milestone!

Cat With Very Long Tail

Her recent behavior reminds me of the artist Andy Goldsworthy or a bower bird. Here she alligned objects to form a cat with a very long tail. the pile of stuff on the right is the body and a long tail stretched behind her. Earlier she assembled Boggle pieces, beads, pencils in a bag and repeatedly handed it to me after minor adjustments saying "Here Grandma. Cookies for you." We have a lot of cleaning up to do at the end of the day.

Flower Garden

First note the outfit. Mel fished this number out of her dresser all by herself and got everything on (except turtleneck) all by herself.

Next note the tangled mess behind her. That is part of her "flower garden". She has very elaborate displays which she makes adjustments to all day. This ended up more like a pile of diapers, stuffed animals and socks in the end but I'm not arguing with the artist's vision.

Max tries to pull himself up to sit all the time. Laying on your back is so "newborn". Mel reads to him but Max's attention span is pretty short.

Candy Cane

All she wanted for X-mas was a candy cane. Grandma got her this gourmet hand-made one. Clearly Mel hated it.

Crash Landing

After a catagory 5 melt-down Mel fell asleep climbing into the recliner. She was half way in and passed out. This from a kid who never naps?! A tantrum burns a lot of energy.

Spare clothes

Mel had a little accident in daycare so they put her in the only clothes that fit. She hates dresses but looked pretty cute in this too-small number. Even better with the Converse-like sneakers.

We paid our dues with Mel. Max is no trouble putting down for a nap or bed (so far).

All the pillows and blankets Mel could find were used to make the roof of the doghouse. Dad IS the doghouse underneath.
